Southwest Salad

Yay!! Monday's almost over! One week from today I'll be on the New York Thruway heading towards my house!!!!! I can't wait for a few weeks to just veg out on the couch and relax, and cook lots of FOOD! Especially after this crazy week!

I had the most delicious salad for lunch today and it's super simple! It's Southwest Week at the salad place in the food court I work at. My favorite week!

It consists of...

  • lettuce (duh!)
  • corn
  • black beans
  • Mexican rice
  • beets (because I am in love with beets and put them in every single salad now)
  • mushrooms
  • sunflower seeds**
I ate it with Avocado Caesar dressing (heaven), some polenta, and a piece of cornbread. Perfection!

**I would recommend using those tri-colored tortilla chips (or even just a handful of tortilla chips crumbled up) instead of sunflower seeds. I was just trying to be more healthy after eating Blueberry Yogurt-Covered Pretzels for dinner last night.

They are seriously heaven. End of story. And I have so many dining points to use up, so....

Honestly I only bought a huge bag of them because I figured that would prevent me from having to keep going back to the store to buy more. But it actually just made me eat an entire bag in one sitting.

Oops.

So yeah...I ate lots of salads and healthy stuff today. (And now I'm working on the huge bag of banana chips that I also bought this weekend.)

Help me.

I hope everyone has an awesome week! Good luck on everyone's finals and papers and final projects!

What's your favorite salad combo?

21 Jump Street

If you are in college, high school, or are very very immature and enjoy laughing for two hours straight, you NEED to see 21 Jump Street.

Let me preface this review by saying that I generally don't like comedies. Napoleon Dynamite, The Hangover, anything starring Will Ferrell (except Elf)...they just aren't my thing. I think 90% of comedies are just stupid. However, when a comedy is done well...it can be one of the best movie experiences, because let's be honest, fewer things are more enjoyable than laughter.

21 Jump Street is an example of a comedy that was done right. Even besides making you laugh out loud at least every couple of minutes, it was a very well-written and executed film.

However, for those of you not taking film classes and who just want to laugh at penis jokes and high school awkwardness...this is definitely the movie to see. It's definitely raunchy; as I read in a review in Scene magazine, "they use 20 different terms for the male genitalia." So if you're young, don't ask your mom or grandma to come see it with you; if you're a mom or grandma, don't bring the kids along!

It's very immature. Very, very immature.

But sometimes that's just exactly what you need.

And let's discuss Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum for a minute. First off, kudos to Jonah for losing all that weight. He looks great! And kudos to him for being freaking hilarious as always.

Also, I love Channing Tatum. Who knew he could be so funny? I thought he only knew how to be the sexy, shirtless lead in romantic comedies, but he is downright hysterical. Did any of you see his monologue on SNL? That's some funny stuff! There's this whole side to him that I never knew existed.

Jonah and Channing are an amazing duo. And they each fit their characters perfectly. Channing was the cool kid back in high school who always picked on the nerds, like Jonah's character (who tried to be the next Slim Shady).

Oh my god, so funny...

...he looks just like him!

The two end up both becoming police officers and, ironically, best friends. The job turns out to not be quite as exciting as they were expecting when they're put on bike duty in a public park, but they almost get their first arrest when they spot a gang of men smoking weed. Unfortunately, Channing's character never actually memorized his Miranda Rights and Jonah Hill's character was just too Jonah Hill to actually catch the guy and they all go free.

However, they end up getting assigned to an undercover case where they have to go back to high school to try to find out who's supplying this designer drug to all the students. This results in crazy drug trip, lots of anticipatory explosions that never occur, a hilarious high school party, and a Korean Jesus.

Yes...really.

You need to watch this movie for that alone.

And don't forget to be on the look out for a cameo appearance by Mr. Johnny Depp. Kudos to you if you find him!

Bison Burgers and Sweet Potato Tots

I've heard a lot about Bison burgers and how much better they taste and how they're a lot better for you, but I had never tried one before. (mostly just because I wouldn't know where to find a Bison burger)

So once again, thank you BU Dining Services!

This week they are offering Bison burgers in place of any burgers at the place I work at for only $2 extra. So of course I had to try it! I got a cheeseburger with Bison meat, Swiss cheese, sauteed onions, mushrooms and peppers on wheat bread. Oh. My. God.

The burger was amazing! It tasted like a slice of steak. Literally. I was pretty skeptical at first, I didn't think it would taste any different than a regular burger, but I was very impressed. It didn't taste greasy at all, it literally tasted like a hunk of steak..it just looked like a burger. So good!

I know I didn't really get a good picture of the meat, but if this was sitting in front of you, you would spend more time eating and less time taking pictures too!

I'm not sure I would spend the extra money on Bison meat in my regular, everyday life, but you should definitely try it at least once! And you can always come to BU and help me use up all my dining points by the end of the semester!

Now let's talk about sweet potato tater tots!

The food Gods loved me today! I LOVE sweet potato fries and these are just as good, if not ten times better! Because with fries...you get a skinny little bit of sweet potato filling with just mostly fried, greasy outsideness. (Wow that was a great explanation..not.) But anyway, the sweet potato tots obviously still have the greasy, unhealthy outside because they're made in the fryer, BUT there's more room for delicious sweet potatoness.

Mmmmm...look at it all! And it was so bright and orangey and delicious!

What a fantastic lunch! Hopefully this is only offered for the week though or I'm in trouble!

Have a fantastic week everybody!

I'm Jinxed

This about sums up how every member of Red Sox Nation is feeling right now.

Seriously.

Also, this tumblr post about sums up the three words that keeping running through every Bruins fan's head haunting us relentlessly.

It has been a sad weekend for the residents of Boston. And I have a confession...it's all my fault.

I'm jynxed.

And I'm sorry.

Let me explain:

I was wearing my new Tim Thomas shirt while watching the Bruins game. As you all may recall, they lost.

I then had to run to a group meeting so I changed my shirt. Note: This was NOT because I was ashamed to be a Bruins fan! I will never be ashamed! It was simply because I have been wearing that shirt practically all week during every single game, jumping up and down and screaming, during this 80 degree heat we've been having. And I haven't washed it. Don't judge me! I'm in college....I do laundry once every three weeks...it happens. So point of the story...I wasn't going to go out in public smelling like an unwashed Bruins fan that has had a rough, depressing week.

So I dumped my shirt in my laundry basket (to be washed today before the game!) and opened my drawer. The first thing I saw was my Red Sox shirt. 'Hey,' I thought. 'I'll put this on seeing as they are finally winning (by 9 runs nonetheless) against the Yankees.'

Good choice, right?

Wrong.

While I was wearing this shirt, the Yankees scored 15 runs and beat the Red Sox 15-9. The turning point of the game? The second I put on my Red Sox shirt.

Let's recap:

I was wearing my Bruins shirt and the Bruins lost. I then put on my Red Sox shirt when they were winning 9-0 and the lost 15-9.

Conclusion: I'm jinxed.

It's my fault the Bruins lost. It's my fault the Red Sox lost. And it's my fault that millions of people all over New England are depressed.

So now what do I do? Wear a Bruin shirt or not? Should I also remove all the Bruin nail polish from my fingers and toes?? I'm so torn.

I'm really not a superstitious person. Except when it comes to sports. I wouldn't even wear my brand new Victor Cruz jersey during the Superbowl because I had been wearing my Manning jersey during every other game that had gotten them there.

And when I see things like this happen...it confirms my superstitions.

I'm sorry Boston and I'm sorry Bruins and Red Sox fans everywhere.

Let's have a better day today!

Fenway Park's 100th Birthday

Happy Birthday, Fenway!

One of the best things about going to BU (and I know I mention a new one nearly every post, but this is really one of THE best) is the fact that I am blocks away from Fenway.  Last year I could see it from my dorm room...so cool! And when me and my roomie actually went to a game last spring it was so nice to walk 15 minutes over to the park and then laugh at all the poor saps lined down Brookline Ave waiting to get on the T at Kenmore as we ducked by everyone and made it back to our rooms before half of them even got underground.

It's great.

One of the best things: the flyovers. I saw it a lot last year, but honestly just forgot about it this year. So when I was watching Opening Day at Fenway a week ago on TV and the National Anthem was coming to a close I started to hear a rumble in the distance. And then I started hearing a rumble on TV and saw the planes approaching on the TV.

For a split second I honestly thought 'wow, that's a weird coincidence' and then I slapped myself in the head and said, "Oh....yeah." And then there they were, right outside my window, flying off into the distance, and also on my TV screen. It never gets old.

Yesterday during the 100th Birthday I stood at my window with my camera ready as the National Anthem was being played by the Boston Pops waiting to see them, but they must have gone a different direction because they didn't fly where I could see them. So sad.

Let's talk about Fenway Park. It really is truly great. (The team that plays there....not so much).

I know I can't live up to all the great things that have been said about Fenway over the past few days, so I won't try. (And as much as I want to, I won't quote John Williams' famous quote, because let's be honest...I got the point the first twenty times I heard it).

Then again, it's probably worth repeating: "You think of Boston, you think of Harvard and MIT as being the brains of the city, and Faneuil Hall might be the soul. But I think the beating, pounding heart of the city for Bostonians is Fenway Park. That’s the heart of the town." -John Williams

Couldn't have said it better myself, John. And excellent job with the Pops yesterday!

Clearly there's nothing I could say about Fenway that hasn't already been said, so I'll just take a trip down memory lane. I do have a picture of my first trip to Fenway, but it was taken on a disposable camera so the physical print that you can hold in your hand, that we had to go to WalMart to have developed!!, is at home and not at the tip of my fingers on my computer. Must have been a long time ago!

I've been several times since then, though. And I've usually had really good seats. My aunt took me to one game where we were directly behind home plate like 3 rows back, it was insane. My aunt was even in the Globe because there was a picture of the batter. It was great!

This was the year they won the second World Series.

A home run by Papi.

One of Manny's last games in a Sox uniform.

This was last year, the first game I had every been to where the Red Sox didn't win. My good luck charmness is gone. =[

Hopefully it was just a fluke though, because I'll be back in a couple of weeks for my mom's birthday. So they better win as a birthday present for her! And as an Officially-Being-Halway-Through-College present for me! (Wow that's crazy to think about).

Andddd I recently bought standing room only tickets to the Red Sox/Yankee game on September 11th for only $25. I hope they'll have a cool ceremony or something for 9/11. And of course I hope WE WIN! Especiallyyyyy since I'm the best friend a person can have and also bought a ticket for my Yankee-loving friend to come with me. Let the trash-talking begin.

Although, let's be honest, if things continue as they're going now...we'll probably be out of the Playoffs by then and we'll get murdered, but oh well. Sorry Red Sox. (Bring back Tito!) But I'll still be cheering my head off for you and singing Sweet Caroline at the top of my lungs regardless. Us Boston fans stuck by you through 86 years without a trophy and we will certainly still stick with you if it's another 86 years until the next. And one thing's for certain...Fenway's been there through it all.

For the Red Sox.

For Red Sox Nation.

For Boston.

For all of New England.

For baseball fans everywhere.

Happy Birthday. Here's to 100 more!

Zinga!

I have a problem. It's called frozen yogurt. Seriously...that stuff is delicious. And now I have discovered a place within a ten minute walk from where I'll be living all summer that sells delicious frozen yogurt BY WEIGHT! Which means...you are given a giant cup and you can then go fill it up with as many and as much of the 12 flavors of frozen yogurt they have.

AND THEN you can go top it off with one of the 5,000 (slight exaggeration) toppings that they have, which range from everything from fresh fruit to Oreos to cereal.

And then you go set your giant masterpiece of fro yo and toppings and place it on the scale and pay based on how much it weighs.

Genius.

This place is called Zinga! (exclamation point is included in the name). And it is right in the middle of Kenmore Square. The place was very cute with bright, neon colors everywhere and a very friendly staff.

For my first visit, I went with the blueberry tart yogurt and piled on a LOT of fresh berries, mangos, and kiwis. Delicious! The yogurt was perfect, it wasn't too sweet but also wasn't really tart where you felt you needed to add some Oreos or something in it to make it edible. I was very impressed. And I'm picky about my frozen yogurt.

There are 12 flavors out every day and apparently they rotate through different flavors on a regular basis. I will definitely be returning quite frequently until I see the birthday cake flavor. And then you can bet that I will be returning every single day until it goes away again. Because let's be honest...it's almost healthy to eat birthday cake if it's in frozen yogurt form. Right? Right.

I'm not exactly sure what the price per ounce is, but I filled my cup up to probably the size of a small at a normal fro yo place and then piled on a lot of berries and it only came to $3.67, which I thought was very reasonable.  Without the heavy berries it probably would have been very cheap.

And don't limit yourself to just one flavor per cup either. The possibilities are endless. Go crazy!

And I just saw Pistachio on their menu too. Gah! Those tricky devils know exactly how to keep me coming back again and again until I can try every single flavor. Good thing I'll be here all summer. Zinga...I accept your challenge!

Happy Thursday!

And of course...GO BRUINS!

Inspiration from BU Dining

I love Boston University. For many, many reasons. And one of the most important reasons is their food! Seriously, everyone always jokes about how gross college food is, but this is not the case at BU. There are so many different options that you never get sick of something. And they definitely cater to any kind of diet you may have, which made my week of veganism a sitch.

Anywho, they always have a few interesting recipes that I like that I think can easily be replicated. Here are a couple of my favorites from the past few weeks.

This is a Mango Quinoa Salad. Very simple. Arugula, quinoa, sliced almonds, mangos, and dried cranberries. Simple! They served it with a Lemon Yogurt dressing, but I think any citrusy dressing would go really well with it (if you even need dressing). It's the perfect flavor combinations. I've become obsessed with dried cranberries lately, they are the perfect little burst of sweetness. A great salad add-on! If you don't have mangos, I'm sure oranges would also taste really good. You could add some mandarin oranges and chicken instead for more of an Oriental twist. Have fun with it!

Another one of my favorite things to eat at BU lately is the Caprese pizza. Now, this isn't really anything new because I make it all the time at home with pitas as the crust. But still...it's definitely worth a mention.

Again...very simple. At BU they start with already baked flatbread, at home I usually make this with a whole wheat pita that I toast up in the oven a little bit first. Then you just add slices of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and a sprinkling of fresh basil. (I can't wait for my mom's herb garden to start growing!) And then you heat it up in the oven a little bit (if you want) and then drizzle some balsamic reduction over top. Delicious!

And lastly, here's a dish I had for lunch the other day and actually went up to get a second bowl, it was so good.

I'm not sure exactly what BU called it, but I'll call it a Fall Vegetable Barley "Risotto." Yes, I know it's spring, but the butternut squash and dried cranberries all scream fall to me.

I think this would also be simple to throw together.

First, just sauté up a few shallots (or onions) with some garlic in a little bit of oil (or butter).

Then add in your barley and toast if for a minute before deglazing the pan with a little white wine or sherry, and then add some stock of choice (look at barley cooking instructions to know how much to add.

Let the barley cook up and absorb all the liquid. Meanwhile, chop up your butternut squash into small junks and add to boiling water until fork tender. Drain and set aside.

Once barley is done cooking, add in cooked squash and dried cranberries. And even some almonds for good measure if you'd like. Heck, you could even throw in some cheese! I won't stop you.

Yum!

I almost just wished you all a Happy Monday, but now I remember it's Tuesday. Yay for Monday holidays! Have a great week!

Easter Dinner

Happy Easter to those who celebrate it! I hope everyone had a nice weekend filled with friends and family. To all the Red Sox fans out there...I share your greivances. To all the Yankees fans out there...HAHAHAHAHA!

Now that THAT's over with, I would just like to share with you some pictures from my weekend. (And more sunset pictures over BU because I have a sunset-picture-taking obsession).

This was our Easter table at my aunt's house. We had yummy chicken cutlets (pounded out chicken, egged and breaded with italian seasoning by my very Italian uncle), butternut squash (mashed with some butter and brown sugar), and some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. They were from a box though, garlic red mashed potatoes from Market Basket. Very, very good. We also had really good wheat rolls from Market Basket.

The Easter Bunny also made a sneak attack! My aunt was cooking in the kitchen while me and the men watched the Red Sox in the living room and somehow this Easter basket appeared on the table right in front of us without us even noticing. He's a sneaky little bugger, that Easter Bunny. Goes to show the power sports have over your attention once you get engrossed in the game.

Some chocolate bunnies from Upstate New York courtesy of my lovely mother (she has an in with the bunny apparently) and some Russell Stovers coconut dark chocolate eggs. YUM! And some sugar-free chocolate-covered peanuts for my uncle. (But I may have stolen one...or ten).

And my uncle made sure that we were all set for dessert by getting out an assortment of Market Basket pies so we could each choose our favorite. I went with the Boston Cream....duh!

(Can anyone tell me why it's called Boston Cream PIE? It is clearly cake. One of life's great mysteries.) But anywho, this was really good Boston Cream pie. Koodos to Market Basket!

So overall it was a lovely weekend with the fam. Despite the Red Sox grueling loss yesterday and heart-breaking loss this afternoon. Bruins had an awesome win for their final regular season game though! (I had to go to North Station Saturday to get on the train to my aunt's and it was right before the game so there were Bruins jerseys everywhere waiting to go upstairs to the Garden, and would you believe that no one offered to give me their ticket so I could watch the game?? How rude!)

And last but not least, my nice weekend came to a close a beautiful sunset over Boston University.

Have a fabulous week everybody! And don't get too much of an Easter candy sugar high!

Ciao.

Veggie Galaxy

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a fabulous week!

I had a major moment of weakness last night. My dining hall was serving my FAVORITE dish: Sweet and Sour Chicken. And it looked SO good! And I stood in front of that station staring at it for a good 2 minutes before the annoyed worker finally said, "Do you want this?" And I just sadly bowed my head and walked away to the salad bar. So sad. One more day!!

But then the universe decided to make it up to me because today they had that same sweet and sour dish for lunch today only this one had vegan "meat"balls instead of chicken. Yay me! It was so good!

So yesterday we made the trek into Cambridge to visit Veggie Galaxy. It's a 100% vegetarian, 80% vegan restaurant. (Their sister restaurant is called Veggie Planet..where they do a million different kinds of pizza. I'll have to try them out sometime too).

We had a little bit of a late at prime lunchtime, but once we were seated the service was fairly quick. And it was good because we needed that ten minute wait to scan the menu and decide what we wanted. The stuffed french toast with vegan nut cream cheese and camamelized banana butter??? Omg it took every ounce of willpower not to order it, it sounded so good. But I decided on something healthier and more hearty. The vegan Cambridge Street omelet: $9.50.

It had black beans, red pepper puree, and sweet corn and apple salsa with vegan cheese and a tofu egg. It also came with home fries and wheat toast (which I did eat half a slice of, sorry! But I can't eat an omelet without toast!). This no doubt would have been ten times better if I could have had regular egg and cheese, but it was still pretty good. Vegan cheese freaks me out though...I'm sorry. I don't know how you eat that...it's unnatural. The home fries were delicious though!

I thought it had a really cute diner feel. And our booth was a two seater, but it was up in the air like a high table, but still a booth. I thought it was the coolest. And there was a giant mirror across from us begging me to take a picture. So I did.

For a drink, we got vegan Chocolate Malts ($6) because quite frankly..we deserved it! It was very good...tasted just like a regular chocolate malt with a hint of coconut. So good! And I'm going to pretend it was healthy because it was vegan.

They also have a bakery here with strictly vegan desserts. It all looked so good! But eventually we settled on the Sweet Potato and Carrot Cake with Vegan Cream Cheese Frosting ($5.25). Oh. My. God. It was literally the best carrot cake I've ever had. (Even better than mine...which I must say is pretty dang good). It was also the most moist cake I've ever had...those vegans really know what they're doing!

And can we take a minute (or ten) to talk about the vegan cream cheese frosting??? What is it made of?? Aside from pure heaven. It was so good! You could see the vanilla beans speckled throughout and it was so rich and cream cheesy and sweet and amazing. I don't know how they do it. I can't wait to come back here just to try their cheesecake next (and then every other piece of cake in their bakery!)

So overall: if you're vegan, I would recommend it. If you're vegetarian, I wouldn't waste your money here. It was really, really expensive. It came to about $20 a piece, which (even with dessert and a milkshake) is way too much for a lunch if you ask me. But I understand vegan ingredients are expensive, so I can't blame them. I wouldn't go to the restaurant part again though. Definitely the bakery though! For real....vegan desserts are delicious!

Have a great weekend!

Going Vegan and Eliminating Processed Foods

I have officially made it through 5 and a half days without any meat, eggs, dairy or processed foods. I am so proud of myself! And I feel good. I get ravenously hungry at really random times (like an hour after I ate a huge breakfast) but it usually passes. I'm also starving by the time I wake up in the morning no matter how much I try to eat the same amount of calories and get the same nutrients as before. But overall, I feel great.

You can eat so much more food this way! I can eat giant salads or huge bowls of sauteed veggies with a little bit of rice for the same amount of calories as one chicken finger pretty much. It's great to feel full without feeling gross like you do after eating junk. I'm definitely going to go back to meat after this, but I will be more aware. I'll try to avoid red meat (except pork because it is the bane of my existence) and cut back on meat overall. The one thing I've definitely taken from this experience is that I don't need processed foods!

My half eaten bag of pretzels has been staring at me all week begging me to eat them, but I've been fine without and really haven't had any major cravings. I also haven't had sliced bread (except a half of one slice) or bagels or anything like that, and I've survived. I've also solely been drinking water and hot tea (and Silk milk once because I had just lifted weights and needed the protein). It's really not that bad. I'm not saying you must completely give up processed foods, but you should seriously think about it. Be conscious of what you put into your body and how it's affecting it.

I also haven't had gum in a week!!!! Crazy!!! I went from like 5 sticks a day to nothing...that was probably the hardest (aside from peanut butter in my oatmeal). And on the topic of oatmeal...eating old fashioned oats was a bit of a change also, instead of just the pre-packaged instant oatmeal. It's hard to get good flavor, no matter how much cinnamon and stuff I added to it. It's just kind of bland and I feel like I'm only eating it because I know I have to. I recently discovered, though, that if I made it with cinnamon and water and then added some of BU's homemade granola at the end, it had a really nice flavor and texture.

My point is: you have to make sacrifices. But it is so so worth it! You are given one body to live in and you have to treat it accordingly. One thing I should try to limit is artificial sweetener because I let that be an exception this time around. But it really isn't good for you. While my sweet tooth has diminished quite a bit, I still don't think I'm able to drink tea or coffee without sweetener. But that's my next task.

Also I think there is a huge misconception about Vegans that they're always hungry or don't have any energy and this is definitely not true. You just need to make sure to get your protein from tofu and beans and soy milk and other sources. It's completely doable and the food still tastes great. I mean, come on...Bon Me is vegan!! As soon as I realized that I went out and got it for dinner and it was so good. I eat it all the time even when I am eating meat because it's just delicious!

And this morning me and my roomie went to a vegan restaurant in Cambridge (look out for the review tomorrow) and I am still full of the food! I had a vegan chocolate malt!!! So good and just as tasty as a regular one. I even got a slice of vegan carrot cake with cream cheese frosting to go which I am very much looking forward to for dessert tonight.

My recommendation: give it a shot! It will only make your body feel better, and hey..you might even realize that feeling better is worth giving up meat and dairy and stick to it. At the very least, it makes you conscious of what you're putting into your body. Remember...you are what you eat. And right now, I am a delicious, thick vegan chocolate malt!

My "Last Meal" at Paris Creperie

I have made it through two days with no meat, eggs, fish, dairy or processed foods. And you know what? I'm not starving...I'm not exhausted...I'm not completely void of energy...It's really not so bad. I don't think I would be able to do this though if I didn't go to BU. They have so many food options for vegans and vegetarians. It's great. And their granola is vegan and made fresh everyday...so if I get hungry, that's a great, healthy way to fuel me up!

The only time I really regret this is when I'm at work. Serving people cheeseburgers, tater tots and milkshakes all day isn't fun when you can't have it. Now...I have never actually ordered any of these things from where I work, but now that I know I can't have them....they just look so damn good!

So after the Hunger Games on Friday night, me and my roomie went to Paris Creperie for our last regular meal before we started this diet.

I have a problem. It's called every-time-I-go-to-a-restaurant-I-always-order-the-same-thing-itis. It's a real disease, Google it. I know I should expand my horizons and order something different every time, but if I try something once and love it. Why wouldn't I get the same thing next time?? It just makes sense.

So long story short, I ordered the same thing that I ordered last time I was here with my mom a few months ago. A French Toast Crepe. This is under the breakfast crepes part of the menu. I tell you this because the menu is HUGE! And there are a million categories of delicious crepeness.

The french toast crepe comes with your choice of fruit. I got banana, of course!

It had a very thin layer of egg surrounding the inside of the crepe, so I don't know if they cook it right on top of the crepe or what, but it really fascinates me. I tried something similar over winter break, but I just ended up cooking my egg really flat in a large skillet and laying it on top of my crepe. Check out my crepe recipe HERE.

Then it had grilled bananas, powdered sugar, and the perfect amount of maple syrup. It was delicious. (Obviously, since I ordered it for the second time in a row when there's a menu FULL of amazing sounding crepes).

For a drink we split the Mango Passion Smoothie: mango juice, strawberries, peaches, and pineapple sorbet. It was very good and healthy-tasting.

How adorable are we?

We also ended up getting the Nutella "Smoothie" because our friend works there and no one would shut up about how delicious it was. So we got it and split it among all of us. I'm not a huge Nutella fan. I know, I know. An angry mob is probably on their way to hunt me down right now, but I really just don't see what all they hype is about. Give me peanut butter any day.

It's called Nutella Frozen Hot Chocolate and I guess it's not that bad for you, because it's only Nutella, skim milk and frozen yogurt. One sip will leave you thinking that you just consumed a thousand calories. It is so rich!! But not too rich..which is a very fine line. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would (even though I was still wishing that someone would make a peanut butter version instead...and with bananas too..yummm!) But nevertheless, it was definitely a guilty pleasure and, like I said, not THAT bad for you.

So if you're part of the 99% of Americans who would marry Nutella if they could, I would definitely recommend ordering this.

I hope you all survived April Fool's Day without any heart attacks and without killing any of your friends and family. Happy Monday and have a great week!
